Here is a clip from Black Eyed Katy on the evening of December 30th, 1997 in Madison Square Garden. The first 2:30 seconds of this are ridiculously thick, Trey’s funky sound that seemed to have gotten lost after 1998 is at full crispness here. I would love if they could bring back this sound to Tubes, Ghosts, Moma Dances (or if they just would play Black Eyed Katy again) and other songs of the sort. At the 2:45 mark the band stops for a huge “Funky Trey Break Down” that dominated the 1997 and 1998 jams. Cross your fingers for 2010!
