Phish Members–But Not Phish–Play Wildfire Benefit

Trey and Kang at Fourmile Canyon Revival
Kang Does His Trey Face for Trey (from Mountain Weekly News)

Attendees of last night’s Fourmile Canyon Revival wildfire benefit in Broomfield, CO, were treated to performances by Trey, Mike, Jon and Page–just not all at the same time. Mike and Trey played an acoustic set of Phish songs–setlist and download–and everyone but Mike sat in with one of the other bands on the bill. Specifically:

  • Trey joined String Cheese Incident on vocals and guitar for Joe Walsh’s “Rocky Mountain Way,” which Phish wedged between YEM and Chalkdust during the epic 7/23/97 second set. He stayed on for SCI’s “Outside Inside,” and resurfaced for the set-closing “One Love.”
  • Page came out with Leftover Salmon for a few songs, including “Mama Boulet” and “Muddy Water Town.”
  • Fish sat in for much of Yonder Mountain String Band’s set.
  • Even Chris Kuroda made a guest appearance, lighting String Cheese’s set.

We’ll provide links to audio if they surface. Don’t expect anything on livephish.com, at least just yet; nugs.net says that the whole night was recorded for a benefit release. For lots of great photos and a full report on the benefit, head to Mountain Weekly News.
