Phish Offseason Heating Up

The winds are gathering in Phish land. Most exciting, the Trey Anastasio Band kicks off its new tour tomorrow, beginning in Portland, ME and winding down on March, 5 in Oakland, CA. The only shows that haven’t sold out yet are in the great state of Pennsylvania, so if you’re dying to catch the half-acoustic, half-electric big red express, better book your ticket to the keystone state.

Not to be outdone, the cactus announced two vinyl releases for national Record Store Day on April 16. The first is a mega-special, bright-orange-colored, double-LP of Inside In, Mike’s first solo release from 2003. It includes three new, never before heard outtake tracks. The second is a 7″ vinyl of two remixes from Mike’s latest album Moss. The remixed tracks are “Horizon Line” and “Fire From A Stick”.

Next up, there’s a great interview with TAB bassist Tony Markellis on the kick off of the new tour and the big difference between Phish and TAB (spoiler alert: Phish is collaborative, TAB isn’t).

Then, for all the ladies out there, our friends at Dog Gone Blog have put together an extraordinarily nerdy and fascinating breakdown of Trey’s current rig. That’s right, baby, full color pictures included. Oh yeahhh.

Finally, speaking of sexual innuendo, a new Amanda Green interview shares some wonderful tidbits about working with Trey on the Hands on a Hardbody musical that hopefully will be hitting the stage soon. She also revealed that she “never misses a chance” to see Phish. Mi Amor!

Stay tuned for more breaking news and updates as the Phish offseason continues to heat up.

***UPDATE [by Guy Forget]: The off-season has gotten even hotter since this post went up: Phish announced the next two in its series of 2010 remasters by Fred Kevorkian. This time around, 10/26 Manchester and 10/30 Atlantic City will get the treatment. They will be sold on iTunes and on CD in select record stores and on Dry Goods beginning April 12.
