On the band’s Vimeo page, under the video of their Summer Tour Announcement, it says:

Phish kicks off their 2011 Summer Tour on Memorial Day weekend, with three nights (May 27, 28 & 29) at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, NY, followed by stops in Cincinnati, Mansfield, Camden, Alpharetta, Charlotte and more. Additional summer announcements will be coming. Following the summer, the band has no touring plans for the remainder of the year.

At first I was unsure what to make of this. I was certain they were just trying to ensure a sell-out summer; after all, they said “no plans”, rather than “not going to”.

Via a reputable source, it has come to my attention that, in fact, this summer tour will be the last Phish plays this year (unsure of an NYE run). However, it also seems that this isn’t a big deal and isn’t any sort of “hiatus”–obviously, the fact that the last time there were no real fall tours was 2000 (hiatus) and 2004 (break up).

I know people are going to say I’m speculating, but I guarantee that I am not, and I stand by this.

More to come…
