Happy August! It’s the first day of the week, and the month, that Phish tour begins, and I, for one, am pumped. Allow me to share my excitement with you via some gems from the venues they’re playing in the coming weeks. First up, the Gorge, where the band is opening the tour this Friday and Saturday. Here are the Gumbo and Divided Sky from 7/17/98, the latter of which was just recently added to Youtube:
Next up, the Gorge ’09 Rock and Roll. The quality of the video isn’t great, but the quality of the jam definitely is.
The only other venue the band has previously played is the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, where the band played twice in ’94 and three times in ’98. No videos of the ’94 shows are in circulation, but there are a few from ’98. Here’s the breathtakingly patient Taste:
Finally, Carini – the first version with the “naked dude” lyrics, which referenced a streaker from the Madison show two nights earlier.
Safe travels to everyone headed to Washington State, and a great week to everyone else.
