Black Friday. We all know what it means. Target and Sears opening at 3am. “The best discounts of the year.” The day when businesses large and small seek a one-day profit so grand it balances the entire year. Basically, for most Phish fans, Black Friday is just another day when they can relax at home with a memorable fall/winter tour show and a local beer. However, this Black Friday, you may want to consider leaving the house.
The announcement from Phish today that they will be participating with the famed Record Store Day camp will mean a very special kind of Black Friday. Record Store Day’s Black Friday is a call to support your local record store and, in 2011, will be your opportunity to pick up some rare Phish vinyl while you’re at it.
First released in this classic format at this summer’s SuperBall IX, Phish will again offer The White Tape (white vinyl) and Party Time (2-LPs) on vinyl at select record stores across the country. For a complete list of participating record stores or more information on the Record Store Day movement, be sure to visit Record Store Day online here.
The White Tape and Party Time records will be available at participating stores starting on Friday, November 25 until the limited supply is gone. Please remember to call ahead to check availability and also note that these pieces of Phish-tory will be sold in-store only.
And what’s the best part about visiting a local record shop for rare Phish vinyl? There’s a 50-50 chance they’re not at the mall.
